Default question on winch pulling power

i live in fl and we have the thick gooey black mud and clay mud. i have been stuck pretty good a few times and my buddy who has the warm 9.5 something, cant remember the letters. anyways spooled all the way out he is struggling real bad to even budge my jeep. it usually pulls his jeep before it pulls mine. he has 02 tj on 35's. what is happening? im seeing too many people on here with 9.5 and less and dont seem to have problems. could his jeep just be to light to handle the weight difference, could there be electrical problem preventing winch to run correctly? i need some help becuase i want to get a winch but seems like i need a 12,000lb but im not seeing people rub that high. any thoughts appreciated

I had to pull out a couple 4WD pick-up trucks that had become mired down in some soft mud this past summer. I ended up having to strap my Jeep to a tree behind it because the Jeep would not pull without slipping (a rock might also work, depending on terrain). If you don't have a rear bumper with D-rings, you can just use a strap through the pin that attaches a 2" trailer hitch to a 2" receiver. If you don't have a convenient tree (or rock), then put another vehicle behind the one with the winch and attach them together. If you can't count on a tree or rock or third vehicle, then you might check out the Pull-Pal (I'll let you Google it).

If the anchor point (friends Jeep) is moving and yours is not, the problem is with the anchoring. You don't need a heavier winch and there aren't any electrical problems. The winch is doing what you are telling it to do = Pull these two vehicles closer together. If your friends Jeep rolls or slides, it needs to be anchored better, not pulled harder or faster.

thanks guys, next time it happens again, i will def try out some other anchoring methods for his jeep. as for the pull pall, thats already on the list to buy with the winch, especialy since i like to take afternoon drives alone sometimes to get out of the house. i may just get stuck on purpose and anchor his jeep better and see what happens.
