catalog says, 12mm offset BS 4.625 for the 9x17 rims

Joe,

Yes the wheels are hub-centric, they were designed to fit the JK. The offset is +12mm which should make the backspacing 5.5".

I have just gotten these wheels, measured them, and they have 4.5" backspace. These should be advertised as -12mm offset, not as having 12mm offset. Positive offset gives you more backspace and we are looking for less backspace if want to run wider tires. The new calculation is,

10/2 - 1.2/2.54 = 4.5"

As someone had mentioned need to add 1" to account for flanges. That's why it's 10 not 9. 9" is the width from inner to inner flange, but overall the 17x9 wheel is 10" wide.

Factory 17x7.5 wheels with an offset of +44 equates to 6.0 off backspace.

Good point and in line with what you would calculate,

(7.5 + 1)/2 + 44/25.4 = 6" backspace.
