I found this quote from Discount Tire Direct...

For reference:

9" wide wheel with +12mm offset = 5.5" backspace
9" wide wheel with +6mm offset = 5.25" BS
9" wide wheel with 0mm offset = 5" BS
9" wide wheel with -6mm offset = 4.75" BS
9" wide wheel with -12mm offset = 4.5" bS

12.5" wide tires can clear with a 5.25" BS (at most) wheel after trimming the factory rocker guard
13.5" wide tires can clear with a 4.75" BS (at most) wheel after trimming the factory rocker guard

Wheels with 4.5" backspace tend to be the easiest fit for larger tires with a lift.

That doesn't look right. 17x9 with 0 offset can't be anything but 4.5in backspacing.

They say you have to account for the wheel flange, so your supposed to add 1" to the rim width and then divide by 2 to find the center line.

Thanks for the compliment, but that's kind of a sore subject with me.. The short answer is silver, read the rest if you want to know the story behind them.

I came across a really good deal on 4 of them on eBay ($400), the guy that I bought them from only had them for a short time and decided to go a different direction. They looked brand new so I bought them, they were in like new shape when I opened the boxes. I ordered a 5th wheel from a popular vendor and that's where the headaches began. The 5th wheel I ordered was silver also, according to the catalog, and the ones I had bought were silver, but sitting next to each other I could tell there was a difference in color and the finish was slightly different. The vendor was sent pictures side by side and wheels were sent back and forth, I thought I was losing my mind. In the end I found out Rugged Ridge doesn't make the silver any longer and they sell the hyper silver under the same part number as the silver now, which explains why the vendor kept saying they sent me the right part number. No one has ever noticed the difference, but I know it's there and it drives me nuts. Between the two I would pick the silver every day over the hyper because I think the the finish looks better up close.

If you get a chance to see some in person compared to the silver ones you will be able to see what I'm talking about, the hyper almost looks like it's painted on. Good luck

This is correct. I have the black satin RR 17x9 and they were billed as 4.5" backspacing, which is close enough to 4 9/16" for me.

Work great and look good . Quality rims that are holding up well.
