Default Question on Hemi Swap

Hey guys I am new here and haven't been able to find a thread answering who does the cleanest 6.4 hemi swap. I rode in my buddies rubicon unlimited with a 5.5 inch lift, 37's and 6.4 hemi. I had so much fun in it that I am now looking to buy one and have a 6.4 swapped in.

My question is who does the best swap that is clean and allows function of all factory components. I will probably just have the jeep drop shipped to whoever I have do the conversion after I order it. I would like to hear first hand accounts from anyone that has done this before and what shop they used and how their experience has been.

Thanks in advance guys.

I am not sure about your area but out here in the Midwest Stomper Offroad is the place to go.

I just did a 5.7 VVT truck Hemi swap using the Jeep Speed Shop kit. I am pleased in the end. I know a guy that used an AEV kit with a crate 6.4. I believe he is pleased although he did have programming issues at one point. I believe the 3 major "kit" producers (AEV, JSS and Dakota Customs)will yield a clean end product. Rubitrux in NC uses AEV kits and has a great rep.you could buy one already done from them probably. If you have the ability, a buddy and a long weekend you could do it yourself and save prob 50%. After having done one, there is no way I would pay someone $5k+ in labor. Using a 6.4 will close to double what you could buy a 5.7 truck hemi (400HP) motor. Best of luck. If you have any questions let me know

Thanks for the replies guys. I do not have the time or tools to do the swap myself. If i had a buddy that was also really into cars I could probably get it done but most of them are not interested in cars past buying a "pretty" one. I am looking at AEV and Rubitrux to do the conversion. I rode in one done by Dakota Customs and that is what made me want one.

I just had a 5.7 vvt truck hemi installed. I purchased a junkyard motor with 50k and transmission with 11k for $2900, kit from Dakota customs with Borla headers and exhaust, and river raider install $3400. Best money I've spent on my Jk. First truck Hemi for River Raider and they were very surprised how much better it is than the standard 5.7.

Is there a reason the vvt is better than the standard?

Yep, it has to do with the vvt... same with my L96 6.0L (chevy truck engine). The truck engines are really a better fit for the jeep if you use it offroad, especially when rock crawling them.
