We would recommend putting it in the rear axle over the front.

^Agree'd.
I ran true tracs in my XJ for about 12 years, loved them, if you can $$ to do both, I recommend it.

In the front vs rear debate, I like rear first if you are only doing one, but...

What gears do you have now? If it is 3.21's, you will need to buy a new front carrier anyway, so it may as well be a truetrac instead of paying for another open carrier. The other consideration for going front is that while the d30 gears themselves seem to have proven to hold up fairly well, there have been some posts indicating that the spiders are somewhat on the weak side, so replacing them with the stronger truetrac may not be a bad idea.

At Summit, the d30 TT is $390, the d44 TT is $415. Why not save another month and do both...

I'm running it in the rear with 4:56's. Make sure you use a diff lube without LS additives.
I have a manual and there is a little click when upshifting, but other than that it works great.

Do you notice any handling difference in the front when in 2WD?
Considering doing the front to match the rear.

The TrueTrac doesn't work in 2WD.

You won't notice a thing.

It takes power to make it lok up so even in 4 WD and off the gas it is unlocked tio make it easier to turn.

Best option I ever did for off highway driving.

What he said, I have them front and rear. Up front it will seem a little heavy at first but after a mile you won't notice it at all. If you're only running one do the back.

Already did the rear when I regeared. Might do the front after the winter.
