Default question about re-gearing

After scrounging forum for the past weeks, I've finally decided to jump in to a lift and tires.

I'm looking to put a 3" lift (i guess rancho has a new 3" sport coming out which is seems affordable) and 35's on my new 2012 JKU. From what I've read, if i stick with 33's i won't need to re-gear. If i go to 35's, is re-gearing necessary and if so, what should it be re-geared to? This is my dd and the majority of my driving is city/hwy with off-road a couple times a year.

Most of the posts I've read involve pre-2012 information and I can't seem to find any good info. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks in advance y'all.

People say it is necessary but after putting on my heavy 35" trail grapplers I haven't noticed much of a difference.. 3.73 gears by the way.

2012s are different. Lots of guys run 35s on 3.73s no problem.

I'm in a 2011 and I don't even have problems. With the pentastar you'll be fine.

Ran on 3.73 on 35s for a while. Went w/ 5.13 & glad I did it.
