Default Question about installing Fox shocks on the rear

I searched but really couldn't find much on the mounting of these remote reservoirs in the rear. Should the reservoir be on the backside in the rear or the front?

Either way the hose connection at the top of the shock barely clears the mounting plate. I mounted these with the reservoir forward due to fact that the shock swings slightly back as the suspension is compressed. Any thoughts on which way is correct?Click image for larger version

Pretty sure they should be facing rearward out the back. I have a set of Elka's and did them that way.

I installed them facing the rear of the Jeep. Just have to bend the flex tube so its not rubbing on the sway bar.

Here are the front ones. The mounting bracket is from Teraflex.

Thanks guys, it looks like I'll be turning some shocks around tonight.

Ran into a problem when I tried to turn these things around tonight. The small elbow fitting on the top of the shock that is for the hose running to the reservoir is hitting the shock mount. It's essentially right up against it.

I really have 3 options at this point:

1) Cut/Grind a slot in the top shock mount for clearance on the valve (hard to do up in there)

2) remove the bar pins in the Fox shocks and use a bar-pin eliminator (i.e. JKS) that will lower the mounting position enough to clear.

3) Get some 1/4" spacers and slightly longer shock bolts and place the spacers on top of the Fox bar-pin, thus pushing the shock body and valve down slightly and giving a little clearance.

Thoughts

Ran into this same problem with the elbow. What did you end up doing to solve it? Or anyone have a idea?

I went with my Option #3 above and got some 1/4" spacers from Ace Hardware that fit perfectly. By moving the shock down 1/4" the valve clears the shock tower fine and you only loose minimal shock travel.

Also went with option #3 , but could only find 3/8" spacers. Still close but i think this might work.

thank you
