Default Question About Front Driveshaft Yoke

I'm installing a new transfer case shifter cable from Advanced Adapters P/N: 715596 and need some advice.

Part of the installation process for my particular transfer case involves removing the front driveshaft and the yoke in order to remove the old transfer case lever and install a new one for the new cable. The instructions say to add 1/4" bead of RTV silicone on the driveshaft side of the yoke, just to cover the splined washer before the nut goes on.

When I removed my front yoke, there was no splined washer - just the yoke nut.

I didn't see any silicone when I removed the yoke originally. Does anyone know if its safe to put silicone RTV on the driveshaft side of the yoke before installing the nut? Do you think that's what they mean? Is that something that's normally done?

Mkjeep, I didn't install the driveshaft or the yoke originally so I don't know if it was done correctly or not (new shafts when I had it in the shop for new gears).

Just want to make sure there isn't something missing and I appreciate the help.

You should just have a big flange nut on that aftermarket yolk, no washer, no rtv. You could put some locktight on it though.

x2, but I did not use any locktight on mine.
