Default Question on 35X12.5 tires

I just got a new JKUR, have a 2" mopar lift and wanting to get bigger tires and at the same time try to keep it street legal. Where I live a 2" lift and 35" tires are legal but the tire must not stick out beyond the fender flaires. Using a wheel with enough backspace (probably 4.5) so the tires do not rub too much on the inside, will the tires stick out ? If so would the Bushwacker fender flair cover them up ?

Most are going to stick out of or flairs. I am running a 285/75/R18 = 34.8/11.4/18. This avoids the rub with 12.5s. I have 4.5 back spacing also. 12.50s will require some serious shaving on a 2" lift. I did a 3" with the narrower tires to avoid those issues. Ill attach pics later when i get her back.

I live in Pennsylvania and have similar issues with legality. We can not have any tread out of the body by law. I plan on doing the Rugged Ridge Hurricane fender flares, they are +1" (25.4mm) over the factory width, so I'll pick up some needed tread coverage over the 12.5" wide tires I am planning. I think there are some other brands as well, but I just love the look of the Hurricane set!

My idea is that if I do my best to minimize the tire sticking out, the police should not bother me. I would love a set of narrow steel flares, but I would be on a flatbed getting impounded if I tried to run that stuff here in Pa. where I am at. I just want to blend in and not stand out like a hooligan to the cops!

There's plenty of extra wide fenders out there, in plastic and steel. I know RROR has their extra wide that are 4" wider than stock, and I believe genright has a wide set.

AEV rims have 5.2" backspacing and do a good job of keeping the tires inside the flares. The new Mopar 2" lift is nice and actually lifts more than 2" so you have room for 35's unless you are pretty hardcore. I run bushwacker flatfenders with 35's on aev Salta rims and pretty well tucked in. I have a bit taller lift but I know someone with the mopar lift and his would have no issues he runs 35" km2's, not sure what backspacing he has and he has stock fenders flares.

I have a 4.25 backspacing on mine and am running 1.5" spacers with smittybilt xrc fender flares. The wheels stick out past the flares a lot, and even though it's illegal where I live, I haven't had any issues with getting pulled over or ticketed (yet). It's very wide but I like it.

I thought the Jeep looked kind of high for just a 2" lift. I keep a copy of the receipt of the 2" lift from the dealer in the car in case I get pulled over. I was looking at the Bushwacker Flairs and the Xenon Polyurethane flairs. Anyone have opinions on these ?
