Putting longer springs

Putting longer springs
Hi All,
I'm currently running the 2" BB Rubicon Express kit with the monotube shocks. The kit has 2.5" puck front and 1.75" puck rear.
Now, i'm thinking of taking out the pucks and replacing it with Rusty's 2" coil springs, but keep the monotube shocks in tack. From RE's website, the shocks measurements are:
Front: 23.5" extended / 14.9" compressed
Rear: 23.87" extended / 14.87" compressed
Will these shocks be long enough for 2" coil spring setup (I think Rusty's kit will yeild a little over 2.5" lift up front, and 2.25" rear)?
I guess i'm a bit worried because when i looked at the shocks for Teraflex 2.5" BB kit, the shocks are taller/longer than RE's monotube. So far, i have no trouble flexing the RE kit...although, i've never disconnected the swaybar yet.
Any advice?

Sounds like you'll be fine.
Your current set-up>
2.5" pucks and the shocks are fine
Switching to>
2" coil springs....the shocks should still be plenty long.
I had a 2.5" spacer lift on my TJ, and it came with new shocks.
I wound up buying a 3" coil suspension lift, and re-used my shocks from the 2.5" kit.
It still flexed fine and rode great.
I think you should give it a shot before you buy new shocks that you may not even need.
Good luck!

Yeah - the coil length has zero do do with your shock length....the coils adjust your ride height....and their influence drops off quickly when you droop, sometimes the coils even fall off, etc.
So longer coils do not give you more droop......they merely raise your ride height.
So - all you are doing is changing the ride height about an inch or less...the amount of droop is still, from the sound of it, more limited by your brake wires and hoses, e-brake cable, sway bar, rear links, etc....and your 23-24"-ish extended length shocks.
If you installed bumpstop extensions...take them off when you do the coil swap in...the shocks compress enough that you don't need them, they'd just rob you of uptravel articulation. (Unless you installed 35's, and no BL etc...)
Get some longer rear sway bar links...disco the front links when you go off road (I like the JKS QD's....get the ones for the 2.5 -6" lift...they are adjustable enough that they even work with NO lift. - that way - if you change your mind AGAIN...the links can be adjusted to what ever length you need...and, they are the easiest to get on/off, etc.)
Make some slack for the brake wires and lines, and e-brake cable...make sure they don't get too taut when drooped.
Enjoy!

Great...thanks guys.... just a pre-caution before i start the work. Yeah, i think this will be a good time to get a quick disconnect from JKS .....
ugh...more money to spend i guess =)
