Default PSI Chalk Test/PSI or Allignment or...

Hey all, Thanks ahead for any input

I'm running 35/12.50/20 Trail Grapplers with my 20" wheels having a 4.5" backspacing, therefore giving me a slightly wider stance. All of which is on a 2.5" TF coil lift packed under my 2012 JKU.

I tried the chalk test this morning and found that the chalk was cleaned off from the inside of the tire out. About 3/4 of the line was missing, leaving the last 1/4 of the chalk on the outer portion of the tire.

I only can find corrections for center or outside edges being worn. Is this an alignment issue because of the new tires? I understand from Teraflex that the coil lift does not effect the alignment, but never though about the change in tire size.

My goal is for longer life of the tires and a smoother ride on the pavement. They are amazing in the dirt

Thanks again for any input!

I've been running at 35psi for about a week now.
The weight of my JKU (according to the door sticker) is 5975lb.
The width of my wheel is 10" with 4.5" backspacing.

You probably need to be closer to 28-30 lbs with them

This is what I wanted to try, but I was confused about the results of my chalk test. It showed even wear from the inside out about 3/4 of the line...

Sorry for the stupid question but do you just use regular chalk for this test

Yep. Regular chalk, kid's sidewalk chalk, etc. It is just so you can see where it wears off.

I'm wondering why no one has suggested that OP issue is camber. Wouldn't that cause uneven contact patch with heavy on the inside of the tires? Are all tires showing the same results from the chalk test or just one? I'd have thought over inflation would bulge center of tire causing chalk to wear off in middle. Too low tire pressure would cause both sides to wear leaving middle still visible.

I run the same tires at 30psi Highway and 28psi if doing nothing but around town driving for extended periods.

So far without armor and bumpers - Stock 2011 Rubicon with EVO 4" lift it gave me the best ride....

Hope this helps

Or, was the chalk gone from the center and the vehicle side edge but not the outside edge?

Was this both front and back?

If you had an alignment camber problem, it would typically be from a bent axle or bent Cs, but that usually doesn't happen uniformly.

The other source of a camber problem would be worn lower ball joints, but you would also feel wobbles or looseness in your front end if this were the case.

Either way, if the rear tires are uniformly doing the same as the front and on both sides of the vehicle, it would not be alignment issue.
"Or, was the chalk gone from the center and the vehicle side edge but not the outside edge?"
This is accurate for the front.
The rear seems to be even.

I would also like to mention that there are only about 4000 miles on the vehicle. No real wheeling yet, with exception of some sand.
