I haven't used anything but turtle wax car wash.

I have the Qtec 9000 synthetic as well. Mine has been on a couple months and the hook is showing a little fade.

So, I'm going to go ahead and toss this out there. I bought the winch for one reason only, for winching. If the only bad thing you ever have to say about a winch is the plastic is fading, you've got some damn good service out of your winch. I don't care if mine turns pink, in the two months i've had it it's saved my ass twice. It's earned it's keep. I'll leave the aesthetics up to the mall crawlers. My rig gets dirty.

Also, if you don't like the fade, get a universal cover. You can find them online all day for about 12-15 bucks. I use one on mine and it works fine. If you don't use your winch for a while with a cover on it, pull the cable out every now and then and let it dry up, then wind it back on under a load. This will extend the life of the cable. UV rays will fade any kind of plastic. Give it some time and the plastic on the outside of your jeep will look the same way. If you don't cover it up, a shot of armor all every now and then will help delay the inevitable fading.

I posted up a couple pictures, one with the cover on I bought off amazon for 15 bucks. It stays on nice and tight, even at Interstate speeds of 75 MPH. The other picture is with out the cover on.

My Smitty faded as well. And I've seen faded Warns, Superwinch, etc... As long as the thing works, i don't care what it looks like.
