There are tons of threads on "what does a gear install cost". Unless you are lucky enough to live in an active off-roading area most of us end up paying more than $1000. A gear job is easily a full day job if done right (maybe even 2 days). Even if it takes 10 hours for 2 axles, that is close to $1000 for labor. Add in parts at a minimum of $550 for gears and install kits and most people pay $1500+. Places like Northridge or Evo can charge the $1000 price for everything because it is what they do all day and they know exactly what's involved in a JK re-gear. There is NOWHERE in MA, NH, RI or CT that will do everything for $1000 (labor and parts). You are lucky to live somewhere where $1000 gets you everything but it would sot me $500 in gas to drive to NJ! LOL!!!

I completely agree with you there.... Some places are OUTRAGEOUS for prices here in NJ too but if u shop around ull find the best deals from the best mechanics! I do all my own work except gears.... My buddy John who owns John's Trucking and 4 wheel drive does my gear work for me.... He only makes me pay for parts but south jersey pick up is a great place to go too!

Your first post said the total was $3900' was that just a typo?

The regear looks ok based on my costs herein Colorado, some may say its high.

For the lift...not sure what a rustys cost or how extensive the install is, but if the lift is less than $800 I would say thats still high.

You can do the steering stabilizer on your own, it seriously is the easiest thing you can do...get a teraflex for about $50-$60, takes 10 minutes, some wouldn't pay more than $100 total for that part if you don't want to do it on your own.

$3900.00 is correct this includes about $200.00 in taxes. The two mods listing are $2900.00 that leaves about $800.00 (not including taxes) to complete the sleeves and gussets and the cost of the Procal. Procal equals $150, so the sleeves and gussets install appear to $650.00.

If you have confidence in the shop and KNOW they will stand behind their work, then it might be worth it to you. Some people shop and shop and shop until they find the cheapest possible place and end up with a shitty job.

I think I paid $1500 for my gear swap. Are you getting wheels or spacers to go with your 35s ?

I'm having a set 17" stockers Powdercoated and will be running spidertrac 1.5" spacers. Haven't decided on what brand tire I want to go with yet.

Not to hijack, but I went to Adams jeep in Aberdeen md, Friday and was quoted 3,500 for a 4.56 Yukon gear install which includes all parts and labor. I'm guessing that's a rip off price

I'm sure you'll have plenty chime in, but I can tell what I found when getting quotes. Checked with two different shops both give me quotes of around $1600.00. One included a 500 mile check up and one did not. I'm going from 3.21's to 4.88's so the carriers have to be changed out. Was told if I had 3.73's or lower (higher numerically) it would be about $300.00 less. This is just what I found seems to vary quite a bit depending on location.
