Default Pre-runner style bumper: Whats your opinion?

What do you guys think about Pre-Runner Style bumpers. I'm sure plenty think they look pretty cool, but how are they in terms of function?

Great question. I haven't had a jeep in many years but plan to get one soon when I move back to Colorado. I too have been wondering just what is the stinger's purpose? I have seen them look like a simple hoop and also one with a gussett at the peak with a hole in it. Looks like someone would hook a strap there or something. I'd think it would be better to tow from a tow hook directly on the frame horn or at least down low. Glad to see that I'm not the only one who hasn't a clue about this.

A stinger is to protect the front of the vehicle if it heads nose first into the ground/ditch.

I really like the pre-runner winch bumper that rustys offroad has.

Have you or anyone you know used it? I think the variety of places to mount lights and what not seems very nice....plus it looks like it would be versatile...sort of a combination of a brush guard and a heavy duty bumper...

Not worth a s**t in tight trails.

Default stinger bumpers

Here is a thread that has a video in the first post. This explained to me what the stingers are for!

Stinger bumpers are not pre-runner style. I probably would not use them if you do a lot of rock crawling or like to go on real technical trail rides with lots of tight turns. They would be good if you like to wheel more open areas.

Rugged Ridge modular bumper with pre-runner hoops.

Ok, makes sense that they aren't good in tight trails...or rock climbing....

What are the advantages?
