Default Pre Filter or not...?

Wanting to put a snorkle on, drive a good bit of dusty FSRs. do some mudding too, lots of rain, some snow.

Should I get a pre-filter snorkle? Or a standard force feed?

The air ram looks better, IHMO, but the pre-filter is beneficial when it's dusty. However, if you also hit tight forest trails, some pre-filters are subject to breakage from an errant branch. I wish that AEV's design accommodated switching back and forth and am puzzled why it doesn't (they have you cut off part of the main snorkel to fit the pre-filter).

I've got a Top-spin pre-cleaner for my snorkel, but I have no factory airbox so I'm trying to figure some type of inline filter. The good the about pre-cleaners is they are made for excessive dust in the air and are damn near water proof.

i couldn't decide either so i got both tops. snorkel looks cool but the pre-filter works great. after a 90 mile highway run it looked like a fish bowl it-had so much water trapped in it

AEV? If so, do you just let fishbowl stick up high?

Have the Ram air top and very happy with it. I just turn the ram air top 180 degrees if I am following anyone on dusty FSR roads but have not required to turn it around in our heavy snow and rainfalls here in Revelstoke, BC. It functions very well as shown

Another vote for the Top-Spin pre-filter!!

Thing sounds bad ass and almost blends in better.

X3. Ordered a topspin H002437 for my AEV snorkel. Donaldson is the same company who supplies the pre filter to AEV.

Does it just fill up when there is too much water or does it have a self draining system?
