Default power steering issue

About a year ago I raced my JK and overheated the power steering causing issues with it cutting out. I flushed the system and it has been good for about a year. I ran it pretty hard again last weekend on a snow run and it is cutting out again and making noise. I am going to replace the pump and was wondering if it would be worth adding a filter to the return line to add capacity and keep the fluid cooler and clean?
I know hydro assist is ideal, however, it isn't in the budget because I have a contract on a second house.

Thoughts? Opinions? Go....

I think you exceeded the pumps capacity to withstand the load. A filter and more fluid won't change that.
