Potential issues with 5.13 and dana 30
Has anyone has any problems with the Dana 30's in front with 5.13 gears and 35inch tires ( or any tires for that matter).
If so how did it happen?

I have 5.13's and 35's. I beat the snot out of it on a regular basis, no issues. As far as MPG help, well, buy a prius if that is what you're after. I have a 6 speed, and getting the Heep moving is %1000 percent better. I never drove it with 35's when it had 3.21's in it. I got it back from the gear shop and immediately put the 35's on. But even with my Rubi takeoffs and the 3.21's, it was a pig. I don't even want to think what the 35's would have been like. My GF still has the 3.21's in hers with 35's, but I haven't driven it enough to really get an idea of how bad it is. It really wouldn't be a good comparison though, her rims and tires weigh about %60 of what mine do. Keep in mind before a re gear, if you have a 6 speed and 35's, 70mph in 6th is 3k rpm's. I would have gone with the 4.88's or 4.56's if I did a lot of highway driving. My commute is only 3/4 of a mile, so I never even hit 60. Good luck.

I put 5.13s in my d30, auto, and 35s. As of now I have had 0 problems 21k miles later. Doing 70mph its sittin at about 2500-2600rpm. I'm glad I got 5.13s. But in the near future I will be doing sleeves and everything.

you guys realize sleeves and gussets dont help the size of the R/P. the problem with regearing is the size of the R/p of the d30. guessets and sleeves will never help that...
before doing sleeves and gussets you should be doing shafts, if anything. I say let it break and then replace the whole thing.
