in spite of what some people will try to tell you, drive shafts are pretty much drive shafts. the only real difference is in the components used. regardless of who you go with, i would recommend getting a 1310 shaft with replacement yokes (not flanges or adapters) and spicer u-joints. i like coast shafts but only because they are sold with both and all for about $450 at northridge4x4 with FREE shipping. other manufacturers who have shafts for the same price use cheap chinese u-joints.

I had this exact thing just happen. The pinion angle of your drive shaft is causing the grease to be thrown and causing the noise. I had to replace the drive shaft, got a Tom Woods 1310 for $454, and then had to get some adjustable rear upper control arms to reset my pinion angle. Those were another $200.

i wish i had 650 to drop on it right now but i dont. do you think a new driveshaft will hold up for an extra two weeks until i could get upper arms?

you will have big time vibrations that could lead to a broken transfer case. might want to see if you can find a used factory shaft to hold you over as a temp fix
