Poison Sypder Hood Louver for daily driver
I am noticing through the Superchip Traildash on Michigan roads I am running 217 to 225. First does this seem high to everyone? I started looking at heat reduction hoods but by the time they are painted you are well north of a thousand dollars. Would the Poison Sypder hood Louvers work on a daily driver. I could possibly see problems during heavy rain or am I just being paranoid. I likes the looks, the price and the idea of letting some heat out. If anyone has input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom

That is a little high, but not damaging high. I would check your coolant if you had it changed recently (or any work on your engine). I had an issue after getting my Jeep back from the collision shop and it would run at 215 and jump up to 230 at a standstill. Turns out they filled it with 100 percent Dextron antifreeze (not Mopar OAT). Drained it and filled with a 50/50 mix of the right stuff and it runs fine now.

There's other threads on same topic with guys who live in heavy rain areas and no problems at all... Installed mine last October no issues over the winter with snow and spring rain.... Go for it the price is right!!

A hood louver isn't going to change the coolant temps. It will how ever help with intake temps. Only thing that is going to drop your coolant temps is a going from a 195 to a 180 thermostat. But these engines today are designed for this kind of heat.
