I think the biggest difference is the ambient temps. It seems for me, the threshold is ~102*+ outside. That is when I notice it can start to creep up there and I'm just a bit more cognizant of my coolant temp at that time. We get there fairly often in DFW over the summer. I suspect that's more of a rare occurrence in New Jersey.

seriously guys? i gave it a day waiting...but no one had at least a chuckle at "D hole" wheels? (not bashing the wheels Rick, just having an immature mindset)
wrong forum i guess...

So with an aluminum radiator, the real benefit is additional coolant capacity, so keep that in mind. I've not looked at the one you linked enough to tell what that capacity is. Some are larger than others.
I have a BullyDog 40417 tuner/programmer and could never suggest it. So many people swear by the tried and trie AEV ProCal. It's basic and does the job without having to jack around with downloading updates. I've used a SuperChips FlashCal F5 in a pinch before and thought it was a nice interface that was very user-friendly, but I've also seen people complain about SuperChips products as well with the whole update download issue.
I'm really surprised you're running those kinds of temps/RPMs with that engine/gearing/tire size combo. I've got 5.13 gears/3.6L/37s, so I'm cruising around 3k+ rpms at interstate speeds. In 100* heat and at extended periods is when I see my coolant temps rise mainly.

What is wrong with the Bulldog? After I read your post, I checked out Quad and 4 Wheel Parts for the S.C. FlashCal F5 and it turns out you can't use it Commiefornia..... I will check out the AEV one. Thank you for all your help!!!

230F is supposedly the max temp for the 3.6..... If you see the needle exceed the center mark you are running above 230F. Just past center is about 234- 236.

LMAO!!!! Aw crap! I am going to have to change how I describe my wheels! That shit is way too funny! Thanks for the laugh!

From a guy who built a homebuilt aircraft and cooling was critical - All you guys with temp issues get your grille off and start blocking any place where air can sneak past the radiator. IE you need to seal everything so that all of the air coming in goes through the rad and past the fan. That will resolve a lot of issues. Lots of times people throw untold $$ at problems where most of the fixes can possibly be much more simple and cost time not money.
