Planning on regearing? You may want to read

Yeah, I have a 3.8 and I think even after regearing when I get my 37s it will still suck.

i have a 6 speed 3.6 with 410s
I have a 2012 with 3.21 gears right now with 255/75-17 BFG MT. My friend has a set of 3.73 gears he will give me if I go to 285/70-17. The owner of the shop I go to says if I want to go with a small lift, and 35" tire he would recommend 4.10 gears. That is what he has in his '08 Rubicon w/35's. He has been doing this since '79.

Another 2012 JKU, 6 spd with 315 Duratracs and 3.73, that thinks it pulls fine. Went with lighter bumpers, syn winch line, etc. Did swap to Rubi TC for offroad, while maintaining gas mileage on the highway. I think people with 3.6's might be over gearing.

great thread!!
i wish i came accross this when i was regearing. would have saved me a ton of time. i have an 07 JKUX MAN with 4.56 gears. i love the way it turned out becasue the amount of power on road is perfect and its more then enough offroad to do anything i want. my question is this though
after regearing, my MPG took a huge hit. im only getting roughly 10-11 MPG. i dont run too much extra weight and i cant figure out why im not somewhere at least around the 15MPG range.
current set up that adds weight- skid plates underneath, rock rails, Mickey Thompson MTZ 35's on MT wheels, Metal cloak fender flares.
otherwise- i have a custom bumper that weighs roughly stock, i rarely run my spare. i still run stock rear bumper. dont carry my winch around town unless im roadtripping for wheeling.
all in all i dont feel like its really THAT much added weight. any ideas why im getting such poor milage for my 4.56?
it is a DD 50 mile round highway trip at usually around 65-70 MPH.

That seems like a pretty big drop. My gas mileage seemed to improve after going to 4.56. I had 3.21's and was getting 13-14 mpg after the regear I get 17-18. I am running 35" KM2's on a'12.
