I have a 2012 with 3.21 gears right now with 255/75-17 BFG MT. My friend has a set of 3.73 gears he will give me if I go to 285/70-17. The owner of the shop I go to says if I want to go with a small lift, and 35" tire he would recommend 4.10 gears. That is what he has in his '08 Rubicon w/35's. He has been doing this since '79.

Call a place like Rebel Offroad, they install gearing all day long and are very willing to talk on the phone. I called them, described my vehicle, where I live and how I plan to drive it and they advised me what gears to get.

Default Wrong first thought

So I just found out that I have 3.21 gear ratio. I always just ass-u-med I had 3.73 . It is no wonder I want to re-gear so bad! I feel kinda stupid, but oh well. More of a reason to re-gear. Now 4.10 gearing doesnt seem that pointless.

Your 4.88 feel like to much? Everyone is telling me for 35 i need 5.38 for 35" tires.

I have a 2012 with 3.73 and 6 speed and jeep pulls fine. I wouldn't do 5.38 and 35's. Seems like overkill to me

I don't think the cost of labor to go to 3.73 is worth it.

Definitely not. You'd barely notice and still want more. I wouldn't even pay to go to 4:10, it's just not enough to compensate for extra weight and bigger tires.

Unless you added locking diffs (LSDs at a minimum). Then maybe. Maybe.

I've got stock gears on my 12 door door auto Jk with 315's and honestly I don't see the need to re gear. I had a 2010 rubicon unlimited with 35's and the stock gears on that, which was a dog. I think the newer motors are awesome.

I just re-geared to 5.38s but only because I went with a heavy 38" tire. I don't know if you can really over gear the 3.8 auto. I think i would have gone 5.38 even with 37s just for to overcome the lack of power and that overdrive puts the rpms so low, its unusable.
