Didn't see if he is running a D30 up front, but I am and that ring and pinion diameter is crucial when pushing something like a D30. Sleeves, gussets, covers, none of that means anything when your shearing-teeth.

I plan on the 4.56's also and plan to run Rubi take-offs daily and invest in VERY AGGRESSIVE tires for the trails in a 33x12.5-34x11.5 on 15.

Thats so funny, so many time people that "know what they are talking about" made me feel like it was a huge mistake to get 4.10 for my auto 07 with 3" lift and 33s for my DD.

yea its only 4.10 BUT its perfect since i do a lot of highway driving and lots of traffic stop and go as well.

So i keep quiet most times so i'im glad you posted your experiance. i think most people on here drive the jeep daily and they need to know that higher gears are not always better and it could do more harm.

I think the key to it is what you use it for. Mines a DD but going to 38s so in going 4.88. Low end of recommended but still better than 3.23

In my somewhat limited experience they seem to know very little about the 2012 as far as the new engine and the front drive shaft issue when you lift it

I just put my 37" toyos on my 2012 rubi auto with 3.73 gears and I feel no loss in power it seems alot better. I am only getting like 15-14.5 mpgs but that's ok. Can't wait to see how it does on the trail.

Yup, for the 2012s, 3.73s came as an option for the Rubicons . You could either go with 4.10s or 3.73s. When I ordered my '12 I made sure it had the 4.10 gearing.

My experience....
In my 07 JK Rubicon, auto, I installed a 3" lift, 5.13 gears, and 35" KM2s. I used 5.13s because 98% of the articles I read recommended 5.13s. It was OK but RPMs were a little high. I totaled that Jeep......

Now I have a 09 JK Unlimited Rubicon, Auto, 3.5" RK lift, 35" KM2s, 4.88 gears. I researched the charts, and read several articles on the use of 4.88s. I decide for my situation, 4.88s was the best gear ratio. The gears are stronger than 5.13s, and gas mileage is better. I've wheeled in Utah, Colorado, and all over AZ, excellent performance. At 65 MPH, RPMs are 2100. Around town I get 14-15 MPGs. I took a 200 mile trip, set my cruise control on 63 MPH, that tank got 21 MPG.
