My plan is to go with a 2.5 inch lift and 33's. Most of the comments so far are around having to re-gear when going to 35's. If I only go to 33's, will the stock 3.73 gears work ok?

Thanks.
Drive it that way and if you don't like it, then re-gear.

I can tell you that you won't notice much of anything doing such a small gear change. At least go to 4.10 or better yet goto like carmax and test drive an 11' rubicon with 4.10 or even the 3.73 and see how you like it

Yes you would need a new carrier. Probably advisable to go with something beyond 3.73s depending on your tire size. Even 3.73s are a 15+% steeper gear set than your current 3.21s, but if you plan on rolling 35s you probably want to look beyond 3.73s.

You do not need a new carrier to go from 3.21 to 3.73. 3.73 is the carrier break. He would only need a carrier for 3.92 and lower (higher numerically) gears. Although 3.92's are not made for JK's, next step is 4.10's.

I could be mistaken although as far as I know the D30 has a one carrier for 3.21s and another for 3.73 and up. The rear carrier is the one that wouldn't need replaced.

I have 3.73s in my '11 Sahara and was planning on going to 5.13s when I switch over to '37s. I've seen kits on quadratic.com that say nothing about needing a new carrier.

You are right, just looked it up. The D30 is 2.73-3.54, and then 3.73-5.13. Just about every other axle out there is 3.73. So my mistake. You do need a carrier for going to 3.73's.

Go with a G2 to save a little $ and get a complete package or if you want to order separate pieces and money isn't an issue, Dynatrac 44 front. That's what I want.

Best to get a Procal to get things in line or one of the many tuners available to get a power bump as well as some additional performance.
I checked speed with GPS. I'm going about 1MPH faster than what it reads at 70mph which I had taken into account. Yes, I'm on 33's, or the metric version for 33's.

Had 3.21 in my '10 and upgraded to 4.88. Am I missing something here?
