I have 2015 jku Rubicon and recently I've been hearing an intermittent pinging sound that sounds like it's coming from behind the steering wheel. It happens while driving down the highway with the cruise on and happened once while parked and idling. It soundseems like popping a dent out of a beer can or tin can. I've read it could potentially be a bad batch of gas? But I don't really think it is. I've recently installed a 3.5in rk x factor lift with 35s and the sound started after the lift. Could it be part of the steering assembly that is directly behind the firewall? I can't seem to replicate the sound. And I hear it 2 times a day. Once on my 20 miles commute to work and once on the way home. Any insight would be appreciated!
