Pinch seam. How close is to close?

nice link, jahbone
I trimmed my seam at about the same angle as Mopar did on later 13s. That is a good line.
I also had a little bit of space between the sheet metal folds and put some rtv in there and touch up paint. Never have to worry about it again with 35s or 37s.

I have the same question so I didn't want to start a new thread. What do you think?
I am running 35" Duratracs with a 2.5" RC lift and factory control arms. I have maybe 1/2" clearance to the pinch seam at ride height. Is it save to assume that the control arm moves the tire backwards when it flexes up? If that's the case do I have to keep an eye rather on the rear bumper than the pinch seam?

I've yet to see a 35 hit the pinch seam but it gets extremely close and slightly will rub factory rock rails.
If you cut yours I recommend filling the body gap with something more substantial than the foam in it. I used 3m 5200 Marine sealant/adhesive. It's not cheap but you don't need much and it will permanently seal the hole.

I see some Buschwacker flat fender flares in my future and if the bumper might rub I would cut it so that it follows the line of the flat fender. I just don't want to find out if it rubs on the trail.

This pre-owned Wrangler came with Smittybilt Side Steps instead of the factory rock rails. So I guess I don't have to worry about this section at all. But what about the rear bumper? It blends into the factory fender flares and looks pretty close to the tire already. Is this going to be an issue if the control arm moves the tire back?
