I bent mine and the paint did flake but my solution was to get the 3m underbody coating and to paint the pinch seam around the whole vehicle as well as underneath the flares. Should have been that way from day one!

I'd recommend cutting it and if you can add a couple of spot welds along the open seam, thats what I did on my other rides, just some added protection.

You could always hit the edge with a mig if it bothered you. It sure wouldn't bother me. Did you do that just for looks or did it actually give you some clearance there?

If you look close at the rigs running really 35s and larger, the corner of that seam that is getting cut is eerily close to the tire....chances if it hitting? Who knows....I know some have reported it rubbing....hopefully when I get adj. rear control arms, I can move the axle back a tad to help with clearance. But yeah...its pretty much in the way and just looks out of place.

The sawzall cut through it like butter, a lot easir than I expected.

I did it more because it looked bad plus I wanted the added clearance. I think the tires actually swing awway from it as they are stuffed, but if you had 37's it has to be close.
