If you like the way it looks get it. Personally I think they look out of place if you only have a mild to moderate build.

I think RR just came out with a mild size stinger. Looks great. Probably would have bought it if it was out when I was in the market for a bumper.

Ask yourself if you need a stinger. The idea is it is there to prevent front end rollovers on steep descents (off ledges, etc) by stoping the roll long enough for the driver to react and throttle out, or to keep the hood off the ground and protect the engine should you indeed roll.

Love my JCR Stinger, gets tons of compliments. I like it since it is a good point of reference to the front of the Jeep; I can clear brush and dont have to worry about damaging the whole front in. Just pull out some touch up bedliner. I agree that it shouldnt be to big since that just looks bad IMO but if you can find one that isnt stupidly large then go for it.

Would love to hear from folks with stingers, I have dumb questions like how long does it take to get used to having that extra hunk of steel sticking out in front of you?

Any big pro's for the stinger? Or how about for the hoop?

Just looked up the ACE bumpers from NR4x4, I personally like the stubby bumper better than the mid width for the fact of approach angles and not to mention the price difference. Have you looked at the Pro Series? Its about the same price as the mid width your looking at with the light bar added and it will give you boat loads of light on the trail. Just my

I have the BFH with trail stinger on mine; I like it as the top of the stinger is visible just above my hood line from the drivers seat and gives me an excellent reference for clearance on tight trails and quick steep drops.

Aside from that, aesthetically I prefer the look of the shorter bull/brush/brawler style bar.

Yeah I looked at the pro front bumper but I'm hesitant to lose the protection a medium width or full width bumper will provide the 98% of the time I'm not going off road

Plus the install on the pro front bumper requires some grinding and then relocating and the mid bumper just bolts on...

I do like the option of a 20" light bar built into the bumper recess though

Hoop.

Stingers typically only look good on a larger rig running 37's and up. Even 37's sometimes the stinger is not proportionate at all.
