My approach was cut fenders, 2.5" rear bs, 1.5" spidertrax and Treadwright 315 75 17 tires. Even with a Pro cal and a used bumper/tire carrier I came in at about $1200 total.

I have a 2010 JKU auto. The teraflex 2.5 inch coil lift with shocks is on its way. Now, I am keeping my stock rims. I'm torn between 285 70R 17 or 315 70R 17. God I like the 315! Anyone running something like this with the 315s? Did you have to regear? I know you have to for true 35s but these are like 33.5-34. Thanks.

When I do it all over again...
I think I will run 34" LTB's on a set of spacers and extended shocks- why buy shit twice?
Honestly, last week I was at a mud pit and I really missed my little Rubi take offs, and longed to have something like sticky Interco 34"s (which measure bigger than many 35s) on a milder setup... driving hours to hump rocks becomes a formidable task untill I get my tow pid. But if I had something like those really aggressive 34's I wanted I could have kept the factory wheels and had alot more fun in the muck.
I think yall should ALL get 34" LTBs on your factory wheels and make shit look EASY.

These are Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75R17 on stockers, I’m running 1.5” Rough Country Spacers with a 2.5” Teraflex Frankenlift, Rancho 9000XLS on my 2012.
The tire is sold as a 34”, but mounted for me they’re sitting at exactly 33” @ 35psi.
I love the tire size…it’s sort of a path of least resistance build.
I don’t feel the need to regear, I didn’t have to dick around with the stock tire carrier to get the spare on (although, I will get a Teraflex hinge asap as the Nitto’s are heavy and I’m concerned with stressing the tailgate over time), I have just enough clearance on the driveshaft that I’m not overly worried about the boot.
Between the lift and the tire size I feel I get plenty of clearance and flex with a relatively LCG.
My 5'-0" GF as well as my 74 yr old mom can climb in w/o too much bitching.
Had I had my druthers I’d would have liked to have gone with the Toyo AT2 in the same size but they weren't available and they were significantly more expensive.
That said I am happy with the Nittos, they’re wearing well, they’re not loud, they ride nicely on road and trail.
I like the tires and I'm very happy with the entire setup.
