Performance with 3 inch lift, 35 inch tires and stock Rubicon
I have a 2010 2-door Rubicon with a manual transmission. The gear ratio and tires are stock (4.10 and 32 inches respectively). I can maintain 75 mph in 6th gear comfortably at 2,800 - 2,900 RPM. I'm ready to add a 3.5 inch lift and trying to decide on the tire size. I want to go with 35s but I'm worried about how it will affect performance. The 4x4 shop says regearing isn't necessary. What's your experience and opinion?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, gears aren't necessary. But ya know what? 35's aren't necessary, either. And a 3.5 inch lift isn't necessary...
You'll be ok with stock gears, but you will be happier after spending the money to get it back to a stock-like final ratio.

2012 and 4.10 is perfect with 35's. the 3.8L won't be quite as ideal, but you'll most certainly live. Plenty out there running 3.21's like me! The on road performance you lose won't put weigh the offroad performance and looks!! And with the 4:1 tcase, you'll be fine offroad without regearing

Thanks everyone! I appreciate your quick responses. I think I'll do the lift and tires and see how I like it without regearing. Worst case, I regear later.

I have a 2010 4 door with lift and 35's. It is mostly fine except in the hills. On the interstate I run in 6th until I hit a long grade or hills then just drop to 5th and run it. Never much running over 3000 rpm. Once above 3000 rpm i can go back to 6th and pull it.
I run the stock tires and wheels during the winter and therefore - that is 8 months out of a year.
Just my 2 cents from my experiences.
