So has anyone swapped out their old tired 3.8L with one of these nearly 300HP engines??

Would the computer need to be changed for the engine swap ? or could a person just order one of these Penastar engines and slap it in an 07-11 JK as a direct replacement?
Not really though... see these posts...

Just asking why swap a V6 for another V6. If I ever do a swap I want the power and torque of a V8 you can't beat CUBIC INCHES!!!!!!!!!! How about a GM502 in a JK?

Its always drivers living in the US that dont worry about fuel cost.

Up here gas is only $1.03 a liter in VANCOUVER bc canada its around $1.45 a liter if you do the conversion to gallons of gas you will know why most of us dont want V8's as daily drivers unless its a work truck used to haul stuff

Then Penastar engine advertises a huge horsepower gain with 32mpg fuel millage that sounds great to me but seems to expensive and complicated.to change over...

I forgot to mention the cost of deisel here in Grande Prairie Alberta $ 1.30 a liter haha way way overpriced.

Is currently 1.25 which is the cheapest I can remember in a while. But as others have said... if you're going to drop the coin for this, might as well go whole hog and spend 15-20k and put a real engine in.
Try 11 city (all residential/stop-go traffic) / 17 highway for my 2-door '12 Rubicon w/ 4:10s. I've only added a bumper + winch so far...

Which is about what my 6.1 gets in a similar setup.

Agree swapping in a 3.6 would probably not be worth the hassle.

Much easier and likely cheaper to just trade up for a 2012.

Not cheap when you have about 20 000 invested into a rubicon only to buy another one and invest again doesnt make sense to me... Kind of attached to my jeep i dont think i could ever sell it.
