Default Painting wheels

I want to paint my wheels and I hear a lot about the Plasti Dip, is this the best way to go or Dulpicolor wheel paint? I would think the plasti dip would peel or when you change tires it will peel. Vasoline the tires and mask? What other options do I have to paint?

I used John Deere Blitz Black. Turned out pretty good. Thinking about adding some clear coat.

I used wheel specific metallic grey spray paint with metallic matte clear coat. I'm really happy with them, and have had minimal chips over the last 2 yrs.

If you are looking to go black I used rustoleum bed liner and am very happy with the outcome. They clean well, they are durable and I like the slightly more matte look compared to what i would have gotten with a black spray paint.

i used the vht epoxy (grips well and is flexible). no issues. it really probably has more to do with the prep.

use playing cards around the rim. trick works like a champ plus now you have marked cards for a big money poker game

I flat blacked my stock steelies with high heat grill paint. Great for touching up if you wheel them a lot. Just keep a can in the back, and touch up as needed

Plasti dipped my stock steelies a couple weeks ago. i'll have to say i'm pretty happy with them so far. i realize that plasti dip is not "permanent" but its held up to a little abuse, and its real cheap and easy. i went with plasti dip because i wasn't sure if i was gonna keep it. the stock steelies look WAY better in black (mine are flat black but i bet gloss would look good too). anyway it should be easy to touch up if i want to. if you're unsure about painting them do the plasti dip first. 2 cans coverd my 5 wheels.

I would not plastidip your wheels. It just will not hold up well and you will not be happy.

I used Rustoleum black wheel paint from Autozone on my stockers when I still had them. Can't find it anymore, but I can tell you I had more compliments on those wheels than I do on my MB TKOs with 35s.

Sand, sand, sand, acetone, prime, prime, sand, acetone, paint, paint paint.

You will be happy.Click image for larger version
