Painting diff help?
Just got in my riddler diff covers. And want to beeline it all except for the R on it. I want to match the jeep color to it. So will the touch up paint from auto stores work and stay and if so what color would match red rock? And if it won't work, what will?

You want the cover red rock and the R what color?
The dealership has Red Rock paint in a touch up bottle and spray can. Color code is PEM and Duplicolor doesn't make it for some reason.
Rustoleum and a white paint pen have held up well on my covers except for rock impacts.
If you want to do the R in red rock I'd paint your base color over the entire thing and then color the R with a white paint marker and then use the dealer touch up brush. No sense in trying to mask anything off.

I did mine in black rim paint, then taped it off and did the logo in Red Caliper paint (close to red rock). Hit it with a clear coat of Clear coat rim paint (tough paint) and it's been that way for over 2 years now.

I put a couple coats of primer on them, then a couple coats of Natural Green pearl, then put a design on them with a white paint pen, then a few coats of clear coat.. all the paints were from autozone.. they still look good... for the most part.. other then a few off road shots...

Auto paint works well. Did mine about a year ago. Still great and I wheel frequently and pretty hard. I did 4 coats though. I have better pictures of the covers off but I'm on my mobile. Here's what I have on my phone:

Thanks. 1 coat of self etching primer, 2 coats flat black rim paint, used blue masking tape (regular masking tape likes to pull paint), used a hobby razor to cut around riddler design, sprayed 2 coats red caliper paint, then 1 coat clear coat rim paint.
