Changing your oil is a breeze in the Jeep. You can spend well under that with the top racing synthectics much less under $20 for the regular stuff.

I have been using Mobile 1 oil with a Wix oil filter #: 51348

I have not noticed any problems yet with that combination.

70 smackers is real high for an oil change, even for a dealer. Mine wants 34.95 and I think that's outrageous.

As far as filters use either the fram or mobil 1 filter as they have the filtration ratings k&n is around 90% while fram and mobil have 98 or 99% filtration.
^ x2. I use synthetic Mobil 1 5W20 and K&N/Mobil filter. No issues.

I made that mistake once up here for my wife's truck when we were moving. I had no tools and her truck was in dire need so I took it to the local lube shop and paid $80 for Mobil 1 and a filter Needless to say I change my own oil for a fraction of the cost and use stock oil filter from the dealer.

I started doing my own oil changes as soon as I started doing mods myself. I use royal purple and K&N filter (#1002). No problems at all in my 15000miles (better not have any problems with 15k miles).

I am fan of Mobil 1 oils, and for filters Mobil 1, Wix, or Napa Gold (same as Wix).

There was a oil filter survey sometime back. A lot of people use Wix, its what I use. Wix is used on a lot of construction equipment.
