Default Paid $70.00 Oil Change, Need Filter Advice...

I just paid over $70.00 for an oil change at my local dealership!!! I figured I was gonna just let them do my oil changes until I hit my 36,000 mark, but screw that! I am planning on running Mobil 1 Synthetic but wanted advice on a filter, should I purchase a Mopar or by a K&N or what? Thanks in advance.

I believe Chrysler stopped giving a reach around shortly after Lee Iococca left the company. It's just dry and impersonal now.

Come on we're JEEP people. Spend an hour, go get some oil and a filter. And spend some quality time feeling up your JEEP. Trust me when I say the lube helps.

Search on "ADBV" or "start up knock", etc......and you will find whole threads on this topic. I have a poll thread on oil filters here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/stock-jk-tech-12/who-using-motorcraft-fl-400s-vs-other-brands-89462/

Personally, I have used Mopar and Mobil1 before settling in on the Motorcraft. And....you can buy 6qts of Mobil1 and a Motorcraft Filter for about $32 at wally world.....you could buy a case of KY with the savings for your next visit to your dealer!

My local dealer was running some kind of deal on three oil changes for 80 or 90 bucks so I purchased that. Just hand them one of the coupons when they change the oil and move along, I hope.

For $70 I hope to hell that was Synthetic oil they put in your Jeep! (Otherwise you paid about $20 for oil, $5 for a filter......and $45 for 10 minutes of labor)

MS-102 (the Mobile-1 filter) works well. I've also used the K&N filter (don't have the part # off hand, but similiar in price and efficiency).

BTW, I've been running Mobile-1 5w20 since it had 1000 miles on the odometer w/ zero issues.
