I listen to you guys!

Mac's definitely a nice guy, took good time to answer my questions very polite and informative. But, doubt was planted here and I truly want to get it sorted out before turning my Jeep to the shop.

Worst scenario is that it'll stay there a while if not everything is complete. And we don't have the same advantage over here as you guys with missing items, as we have to get them overseas (equals 1-2 weeks delivery...). Not many 4x4-suppliers over here...

Thanks for the pictures - but now, believe it or not - I'm even more confused!

On both my REAR overhaul kits, the sleeve looks like your first picture!!! The one you say is FRONT!

Nevermind, guess you mismatched text/picture. Just back from the garage, the pinion nut I have in the kits, fits the rear pinion perfect. The front pinion is fine thread. And then the crush sleeve would be the small one at rear, and the bigger one at front.

well I learned something new today... the "a long cylinder thingie" is called a crush sleeve

and yes, that is in the kit I have labeled front (wol's post is mislabled)

The good thing is that we sorted this out, once and for all! Now I'm waiting for my FRONT overhaul kit to arrive, and hopefully I'll be all set! And Bunker, you're not alone - I've heard of crush sleeve, but never knew what it was. Excellent forum, not a day without learning something new!

Thanks all of you who helped clear out this issue - good friends!

Man...I clicked on this subject thinking "engine" overhaul. I was hoping to see somebody souping up the 3.8L.

Oh well. I'm still thinking somebody will come out with a kit like they did for the 4.0L.
