Default Opinions on AEV's tire carrier

I'm planning on adding AEV's tire carrier to my stock bumper within the next month. Before I take the plunge I wanted to get opinions from anyone who has one. Also any pics would be helpful.

Don't have one but there are setups with a bumper AND carrier for barely more cash.

Don't see how it costs so much, looks like two bent exhaust pipes welded together for 800 bucks.

The ace setup is 900 for a bumper and carrier.
The LoD is like 12 for a bumper and carrier.

My setup was a g, crawler concepts carrier genright fusion rear bumper

Well I have one, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Rock solid, hasn't rattled in the 3 plus years it's been on, and gives you the option for an added fuel caddy, which is unique to their design. The fit and finish, design, ease of installation, and the fact that is takes all of the weight off of the door and it's hinges and puts it on the frame and not the bumper, was a major selling feature for me. It is my opinion, and i'm sure others will agree, it has been worth every penny I paid for it.
Actually, i didn't want to replace my rear bumper with something heavier, as I don't mind the factory bumper look. I know having it off entered is not appealing to some, but I rather like it. It's another part of the design I felt was well thought out
since it moves things just slightly over from the door handle and still operates as one with the door. All in all, it was my first and only consideration when I wanted a tire carrier.

Couldn't agree more! Think it's the best option on the market. Well thought out and we'll constructed. Definitely get what you pay for here. Yes it's not cheap, but we'll worth it.

Even the fuel caddy is over 300 dollars.
Every other can on the market is cheaper than that.

I'm not saying it's a bad carrier, but costs way too much.

Rear bumper wise, most plate bumpers weigh 10-20 lbs more than stock. That's not really heavy enough to warrant spending the same amount for both on just a carrier for saving weight.

Even the teraflex carrier with everything is two hundred cheaper than the AEV is.

Does the offset bother you, visually?

Cosign to all the positives mentioned already. I had mine for 2 years on a stick bumper, getting another one installed in my new jeep it's worth every penny, it's nice to have one integrated with the normal tailgate opening so you aren't opening two different things

Tera flex was my third choice, after the ACE bumper & carrier. But it seems like putting a band-aid on the problem of the 315/70/17 weighing so much. I'm just trying to do things right the first time.

It may cost a bit more, but the quality and simplicity is well worth it. The install was easy.

Well if you think about the design of the fuel caddy you can see where it is unique in that the weight is again not on the door, it does not protrude out of the back of the jeep, as it is mostly inside of the spare tire, and it holds 10 gal. I haven't even looked at a lot of other cans since I installed the carrier/caddy, but not many keep the gas out of danger from a rear end hit.
Quality costs, in any product. If you take a good look at it, you will see they use heavy enough materials, and quality parts, so it should last for a long time. The design assures it's ease of use, and the quality it's longevity.
If i did not like my rear bumper, I might be inclined to swap it out, but since I did not purchase the carrier to save weight, but to spare damage on the gate and hinges, and for it's style, quality, design, and options, I feel I got my money's worth.
I can't speak to the Teraflex carrier, as I stopped looking after I delved into the design and quality of the AEV carrier.
Needless to say, you are not the person the AEV product was designed and built for, and that is fine. I on the other hand have been extremely happy with it, and would not hesitate to buy it again.
