Opinions for 35" tire
#11
That is what I thought from way back when, I have not done any off-roading or mechanicing since 1997 and new little about it then. When I was shopping for a Jeep over the last few months I thought the Rubicons came with 3.73 rear and the fronts were 4.10. That is what I was getting at, not sure if it is correct or not. If that is not the case I would like to run the 34" tires on 3.73's since I live in the flat lands of New Mexico and will mostly be in sand and mud but I do want to get out into some woods and such at some point.

Most 35s run a little smaller than 35 inches. If you want true 35s, then you'd have to look at 36s to get around 35.5 inches. But then you're limited to just a few manufacturers. A better compound and tread pattern is going to make a bigger difference than one that's slightly larger.

I have a 14 Rubicon running 315/70/17 Duratracs with 3.73 gears. I don't notice any performance difference in it then what it was like running 33/15.5/15 BFG AT's.
80mph in OD is not a problem.

4.10 stock on manual Rubi ... Option on automatic Rubi.
I have manual and just upgraded to 4.56 from 4.10 after putting on 315/70/17s It was so worth it. My wife even says it was the right decision Much better low end., back like a stock Rubi on 32s

You will certainly not see much height difference, but a bit in width. More-so than worrying about another inch or less in height, I would be more concerned with getting the proper type of tire for your Jeep's intended use.
I have been thinking of doing this same thing. I am about sick of the 4.10's and 35's. I mean its doable and all, but just not like the stock setup. I was thinking going more with 4.88's though. Sounds like you like the 4.56's? Any regrets not going 4.88?

As far as gearing goes, here is my perspective...
I had a 2013 sahara(3.6 auto). I ran a 2.5" AEV lift, 317/70R17 Duratracks, originally with 3.73 gears. While it was "OK", it was by no means good. I debated between 4.10s and 4.56s and decided to do with 4.56s. I was VERY happy with that choice. It made a world of difference. I traded that one in and now have a Rubicon with 4.10 gears. I literally transferred the tires/wheels, etc to the new one. It works well, but after running 2 identical set up rigs, I would absolutely opt for the 4,56 if you are regearing. Don't get me wrong. The 4.10s work fine, but yes the 4.56s are that much better.

If you do decide to re-gear it is a great time to reinforce your front axle and knuckles as well, since everything is already apart and you only have to pay for a little bit of additional labor
There are a number of options.. Here is the one I went with
