Hello all. I am currently running a Nitto Trail Grappler 295/70/18 (34.5x11) and have had them for about 5,000 miles. I really like the tire, but I am regretting not going with the 35". Trying to decide what 35 to go with. Trail Grappler, Duratrac, etc??? I want the truest size 35. Will I even notice a visual difference with what I have now?

 

I doubt you'll notice much of a visual difference...unless you have Superman vision.

I personally just bought 4 new 35x12.50R17 Goodyear Wrangler MTRs from 4WD.com and paid about $1100. That was pretty much the least expensive I could find on the tire I wanted on a whole bunch of websites and local tire shops.

The type of tire you run would depend on where you drive it right? I personally prefer a mud tire on Jeeps but at the end of the day you have to be happy so follow your heart.

Check this out. Helps compare tires visually. However, each manufacturer will be different as far as what the actual tire size truly ends up being so take that into consideration when deciding.

 

34.3" vs 34.8".... .5" difference, you need eagle eyes to see that.

 

Perhaps better than eagle eyes: That's only a quarter inch of additional ground clearance.

 

I just ordered a set of tread wright guard dogs 35x12.5.17 that ran me just over 1000. Not sure what the actual measured diameter will be but I am looking forward to giving them a try at that price!

 

Duratracs are 315/70/17s. About 34.25. So if the biggest tire is your only consideration you should pass.

However.. It is a nice balance. Almost 35, with dood on and offroad handling

 

I have the 315/70/17 Duratracs and love them. They are great in all weather, have a nice aggressive look, not a lot of noise on highway, and are lighter than most. Yes they are not true 35 (slightly under) but there is no difference in performance.

 

Is anyone running the Duratracs 315/70/17's running them on 3.21 gears, I do not want to void my warranty by changing gears, but if I have the dealership do it my warranty will not be voided. However it is going to cost way more to have them change out the gears and I really can't afford it right now. Also I was thinking about staying staying with "stock" sizes like 3.73 rear and 4.10 front.

 

Not sure if that was a typo but you can't mix gears front and rear. It's 3.73 or 4.10 front AND rear
