For you guys running the OME HD Springs on a 2 door, are you still running stock drive shafts or did you replace them with aftermarket ones? I have the lift sitting in my basement but have not installed it yet. When I purchased the lift I was told I could run the stock shafts, but I wanted to check with you guys who have real world experience with it before I install.

On a 2 door, you'll be somewhere in the 3.5-4" lift range, depending on added weight. Nobody can tell you whether you will or will not blow your driveshafts. But there is certainly enough evidence and past experience to tell you that it is very likely.

Several indications just from the faq's nailed to the top of this section...
Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 3" lift?
A: At bare minimum, you should have a set of 3" coils, bump stop extensions, longer shocks, rear brake line extension brackets, new longer rear sway bar links (factory links can be installed up front), adjustable front track bar and rear track bar relocation bracket. Optimally, I would recommend adjustable front upper and lower control arms as well as they will help you set your caster to the appropriate angle it needs to be. Also, if you have a 2-door, adjustable rear upper control arms and a new double cardin U-joint style drive shaft would be highly advisable.

Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 4" lift?
A: For a 4" lift, you should have a set of 4" coils, bump stop extensions, longer shocks, extended brake lines, longer sway bar links, adjustable front track bar, adjustable rear track bar, front and rear track bar relocation brackets, dropped pitman arm, adjustable upper and lower control arms front and rear and new double cardin u-joint style drive shafts.

Q: Are new driveshafts needed after installing a lift?
A: You really should consider installing a new rear double cardin U-joint style drive shaft if you have lifted your Jeep JK Wrangler 3" or more and have a 2-door. This is needed because the short rear drive shaft of the 2-doors will be at a steep enough angle that the CV boots will wear out prematurely. However, in order to do this, you will need to buy a set of rear adjustable upper control arms so that you can properly set your pinion angle. 4-Door Unlimited models do not have this problem as their rear drive shafts are very long and a lift will not effect the angle of it too much. As far as the front goes, if you have an automatic transmission, you will need to replace the drive shaft with a double cardin U-joint style unit as well as the diameter of aftermarket shafts will be considerably narrower and will not come into contact with the transmission and/or skid plate. Failure to do this will result in the tearing of the factory drive shaft boot as it makes contact with the transmission. Manual transmissions will not have this problem and keeping the factory front drive shaft will not be a problem.

I have nearly 10k miles on my stock driveshaft with the OME HD kit. I just know one of these days I am going to be up in the middle of Timbuktu and the sucker is going to crap out on me. So far no signs of stressing or slinging grease, but then again I drive like an old grandpa. I hope to make it at least until this summer . . . *knock-on-wood*

I have about 5K on mine with stock shaft and no problem,,,, THEN I added a 1.75" coild spacer also about 1000 miles ago and it's still fine.
I am putting rear upper control arms on this Friday to help steep angle a little however.
