Default old man emu standard vs. heavy

So I am fairly new to the forum, I have read many treads but cant seem to find how to decide if I would need a standard or heavy duty OME 2" suspension lift. I would like to roll on 33" x 11.50-12.50 tires, i own a 2 door 2012 Sahara and dont plan on doing any major off road usage, just trails and mainly commuting to work. What would the difference in lift height between the two. I hate to require additional modification status post the lift. I understand that if I go with too much lift it could incur problems with drive shaft clearance. I would appreciate any thoughts.

If youre not planning on replacing your front and rear bumper then get the standard kit, this will give you 3" or 2.5" of a lift i believe with no added weights. i got the 2" HD on my JKU that i installed 3 weeks ago and i think the coils havent settled yet so its still 3" once they settle itll be 2.5 with no added weights...

X2 on that. I already have a full steel rear bumper / carrier and thick light bar on top, and the HD is way too rough. I'm hoping my addition of a front bumper and winch this week will slack it up.

If you want to up-armor your jeep then go HD. Otherwise so not worth it

I had an OME HD 2.5" on my 2010 JKUS. I gained 3" overall and I thought both the street ride and trail ride improved.

Yes it improved from stock (even there in terms of pimpin' smoothness on the street thats debatable), but unless you have heavy mods, the standard is still better.

For me, the couple hundred dollar difference was worth getting the HD. I couldn't see buying the standard and then having to spend more money if I decided to armor up.

We all do what we do for specific reasons... Cheers

I have had the HD springs on my 07 and now my 2012. I have had the chance to ride in a jeep with standard springs and the ride is not that much different. I think the Hd springs ride similar to stock. You can always give Dave a call at Northridge4x4.

I have the HD setup on my '12 2-dr. I netted about 3.5" initially then added front bumper and winch and sagged about an inch so I added TF 1" spacers up front, rides great otherwise, with 35's; with no extra weight in back yet I have a slight rake but with gear or passengers it levels out just right.

With only 33's you may even consider just a BB or leveling kit.

Bro, you paid extra for HD?!? It was the same price at 3 places where I looked! I was told it was just a choice depending on your usage. Incidentally I do find it better than stock, but only when there are 4 people and kit inside.

Anywho, ?

LOL... My bad, I should have been a little clearer. I was offered a "gently used" standard duty for about $500 but opted to go with the HD at around $700.
