I want body color matched fender flairs. I bought some black Sahara ones off an inmate here, and have them now.

Here is my genius idea....

Buy some rattle can Primer, color matched paint, clear coat, and paint them to match.

So... on a scale of 1 to "you're a complete fucking idiot" where does this stand? Im just not sure I want to spend $400 having some fenders painted.

You're a complete fucking idiot.

Just kidding, but I wanted to jump on that one before someone else did.

Well, I can foresee two issues:

1) off the shelf rattle can paint is not flexible when dry - you may need flexible plastic specific paint to prevent it flaking off.

2) Rattle cans are hard to get a smooth paint job out of - to get it really smooth, you'll have to buff it like crazy or wet sand between coats.

You are looking at a lot of work.

LOL.!! The Idea is sound. Wait for some pro body men to respond.

My thoughts. Go to a auto shop have the color matched. Take the primer you want to use so they can chemically match. Don't expect them to look like the dealer finish. They can give you an aerosol Kit instead of spray can.

Next time buy a black, white or silver Jeep so you can do these types of things easily..

Hell just chop the ones you have, and go that route.

Or save your money and pay for it. In the long run you will be happier. I shouldn't cost too much and there's no hurry with two sets.

If you do the sanding and the prep work, plus they are off the vehicle, The labor costs shouldn't be much at all. Call around. A lot of places will spray for you.

I like the idea! Been thinking about doing this myself when I get some Bushwacker flares. Let us know what you decide.

Honestly, its worth a shot. Its not easy to get a smooth finish with rattle cans but it can be done with some time, patience, and wetsanding. If you mess them up, you can shoot on some rattle can bed liner and sell them to someone else. How much did you buy them for?

Thats a plan for you. It is a win, win. Paint the fenders with bedliner. get them nice and even. Then spray with the color matched paint (from a shop) to cover the bedliner. Imperfections are nill. I gues that stuff flexes a little for heat and cold??

The paint will be color matched and you will have a rugged look too.

and you can say you did it you damn self.

How does that sound??????

If I wanted an embossed look, I would just the stock matte finished ones. I will talk to a few body shops and see what I can come up with.
