EVO makes the ProTek systyem and it really is the best solution.

.

I remember reading a thread where you opined that the stock protection on a Rubi is more than adequate. Having said that, do you think I need any additional protection other than oil pan protection? The Pro Tek system obviously provides additional coverage areas but Im wondering if I need to spend the extra money for the whole system? Thx for your advice

the stock skids ARE more than adequate but, on a 2012, there is NO protection for the oil pan and, if you have an automatic, there is no protection for the transmission or a vital line that runs between the oil pan and tranny. on a 2012 with an automatic, i would recommend the whole protek skid system. 07-11 JK's are a different story and just an oil pan skid is needed for them.

Ok. I do have an auto so thats what I will do. I live in So Cal so I will call them and order it up. I go down to The OC often so I will stop by and pick it up!

Any idea of the cost for the whole system? I went to their website and couldnt find it?

X2 on the EVO system. Seems it was around $400 for all three (oil pan, trans and x-member skids) and I would buy them all again!

I really like the simplicity of the EVO ProTek skid system but, have they ironed out the problem of the interference with the AFE Y-Pipe? I would love it if they could make it work.
Otherwise I will be going with RIVER Raider Offroads skids...assuming their skids will work with the AFE Y-Pipe...

in all fairness, i think it needs to be worded the other way around where the y-pipe needs to be redesigned so that it doesn't interfere with protek skid. the protek skids are designed to offer maximum protection and clearnace and if you run an aftermarket drive shaft like you really should, you will have no issues. why should you run an aftermarket shaft as opposed to running a y-pipe or other exhaust modification? because even if you are able to get the factory shaft to clear the exhaust cross over once lifted, the angle placed on the output shaft cv joint is significant enough to cause the boot to fail prematurely. an aftermarket shaft will not only not have this problem, it's a better solution and one that is close to the price of a y-pipe kit.

haha touche...I've been waiting for your 2 cents...So, if I were to buy a new 1310 drive shaft(on the "to do" list), would I have no need for the AFE Y-Pipe? Or more specifically, is it known for sure that there are no issues with the cross over pipe and a smaller diameter drive shaft? What did you guys do on Rubicat??
I always like finding the best solution for a problem.

As both manufacturers are making after market parts, I think the ultimate solution would be more collaboration between builders...but then again there are only a bajillion of them, so i guess that would get kinda tricky...
