Offroad Mod for rear shock mount?
Ok this may sound wierd, but on the trail last weekend I hung up pretty good on the lower shock mount. The way it is designed It hangs quite easily. Has anyone came up with a solution? I was thinking of a weldon plate as a deflector for it. or mayb relocating it up more on the axle. any ideas are appreciated. The damage is enough to cause concern any more and i would have problems removing the shock, but as it is i can get a socket on the bolt head if needed.. i'll post pics this week sometime.
This was the only damge that wouldnt be solved by a lift. the skids took a good beating but that will be resolved with a lift at a later date when money comes in..
Oh and my X fenders are horrible about popping the dumb clips off and dangling the fender in mid air.. just so ya'll know about this prob. I think im gonna hit up the dealer on this problem though.

You could probably raise it up but the design is actually much better than what TJ's had. It is close enough to the wheel that your wheel should be on the rock stopping you from gettting hung up. This design is very similiar to the Nth degree conversion for TJ's. I did it on my TJ and it worked great. So far I have not had a problem with getting hung up with my JK, but 35's also give you a little more clearance.
As for the fender coming loose, that is a design flaw and will probably continue happening unless you do not disconnect the sway bar or put on bigger bump stops. I spent 4 days in the CA desert wheeling and never had a problem. My bump stops are 2" longer for my 2.5 lift.
