Well it's relatively more than that but with the cost of the individual items like $1100 RCV's and a $700 ARB not to mention the prosteers it's well worth it. Love mine!

Last time I looked around, you can get a bare housing for $950 or so. Is this:
Includes in axle seals Carrier bearing caps and bolts All brackets for control arms, trac bar, shocks and springs Chrysler
Search around online a bit, you will find a lot of negative feedback about this shop and their business practices.

Brand new, $2800 or so.
Through the salvage yards, somewhere in the $1600 to 2k range.
But if you look long enough, you can find them under $1500 from guys that are upgrading to PR's or 60's.. Just be sure to do a good inspection so you know what you are getting, and you should also be prepared to drop money on the spot, as it won't last long.
As far as building a bare housing goes: There was a post on here a month or two ago saying that the price on the rubi elocker jumped up to $1200. If that is true, be sure to factor it into the build costs. The only other option for rubi housings is the 35sp ARB, which will also need 35sp shafts to run it.
