Is this normal for tire carriers?

Any update on this? I just installed this bumper yesterday and I have to lift it up about 1/4 an inch when closing, not difficult but kind of a pain. Did u get the shims?

I noticed when I installed my Shrockworks tire carrier that the latch sat too high when the carrier was unloaded (I had to push it down to lock). Once I put the 37" on it and two jerry cans, the weight put the latch in the perfect spot. It seems Shrockworks planned for the sagging and built it correctly. If only all manufacturers would do this.

So far, Iv only got the stock tire on the carrier and With the small amount of sag on mine, Im kinda leary of adding the can holders and fuel cans thinking it would make the sag worse.

Mine would not shut correctly without tire mounted. They sent me 2 tire carriers for some reason and the second was the same way. Gee what a surprise. If anybody is looking for a tire carrier that will require shims let me know, Ive got an extra. lol

My SB XRC is the same way. With my 35 mounted it closes perfectly but once the tire is off the latch sits too high and u have to push the gate down to latch it.
I want to add the rockhard Jerry can holders and I'm guessing I will just have to adjust the preload so it closes smoothly. I would think body armor would have built it with this in mind and give you the adjustment capability.

Well guys, I did the shimming of the tire carrier and it worked. Pretty easy to do too. Here's the link to the shim-install if you're interested. Loving the bumper/carrier now!

I have the same carrier.... on mine it was too high up before the tire was on... almost 1.5 inches! But after the 35 was put on it lined up perfect. It's been on for a year and works great.
be sure you put the cotter pin through the castle nut... if you don't it backs off and soon it will begin to sag!
the instructions are very poor on the bearing assembly... a pic would be nice, I know on threads I've read many people get the order of the bearings and such messed up... which might make a difference on some of them as well.
The bumper itself is mounted with hardware that would make you think the Jeep is going to be lifted by a crane from the rear. internal frame slide ins... giant bolts... and holes for the stock bolts. i don't think it is on the bumper side that there is any problem... but the bearing set up has a lot of room for variance and getting messed up.
Oh... I have the new style... I know there are some of the old style out there... don't know anything about them.
