If it weren't for dirtman, I'd still be running the factory setup. Did you add to the purge solenoid to get that much travel... Mine (wires) seem much shorter...

I might very well pick up the river raider semi-snorkel (?) as my next mod! Thanks fellow Jeepers!

Was it hard to install? I'm thinking some grinding or cutting into the body, which is OK. No welding, hopefully? Don't want to spend a bunch of money getting a welder!

Also, does the snorkel help with MPG and/or HP?

RR bit off of a forum members design IMO... I did mine for $215 compared to the 4-$600 RR wants....

do you mean the river raider expedition snorkel?

If this is the snorkel you mean, no welding required. Just cutting into the cowl and firewall. Its a nice kit - has good instructions and very complete.

I did see a little perfmance gain, but its hard to quantify. I also tied my breathers to my airbox at the same time.

Yup that's the one. Looks sweet! The little lady hates "the elephant trunk" but I want to eventually install a snorkel so this is a good middle-ground. Definitely on my to do list now

So you can route your diff breathers to the airbox? I never knew that! Pics?

I don't see the advantage of running your breathers to your airbox other than the extended height will now match the snorkel height. Is there a chance that blowback from the diffs can be sucked back into the air intake?

It extends the length of the breathers and seals them to the airbox so you dont get water in them. I seriously doubt you would get any blowback but IF you did it wouldn't do any harm. Not sure about the JK but most vehicles have the crankcase breather routed to the airbox from the factory.

Quick Reply: A non-snorkel snorkel.
