Default Noise under Jeep... ARRGGHH!

Hi, wondering if you can help me? Have an 08 JK with a 2.5 RC Coil Lift, Mickey Thompson 33's, and 6K on it. Lift has been installed for a couple of months now and have had no issues. Well, last week started noticing a metallic rattling noise under the rear of the Jeep at all speeds. Its pretty loud and does not seem to be related to road surfaces. To rule out it isn't exhaust related, I shut the Jeep off momentarilly while rolling at 50 mph, the noise was still there. Been under the Jeep and see nothing loose or missing. Flexed the suspension and can't duplicate it either... Grrrr! Wondering if the noise I am hearing is my rear driveshaft dying because of the lift? Any input on how to confirm what this annoying noise is would be appreciated! Thanks!

Kind of hard to diagnose it without actually hearing it. Do you notice it while hitting little bumps in the road, etc? Check to make sure that all your bolts are tight. At one point, I had a small metallic noise from under the Jeep. I went through my bolts to make sure everything was tight and found that my front driver shock bolt was not tight at all.

Another noise that I had... when braking sometimes, I had this loud tin can noise from the back of the Jeep. It sounded like I was dragging tin cans behind the Jeep like they do at weddings. Come to find out, the e-brake was frozen and making a helluva racket. I had to replace the rear brakes.

Based on the title of this thread I thought maybe you ran over a pirate.

I have a rear rattling under my jeep but know that it is my rear bottom of my shocks. the bushings are shot and so the the bottom of the shocks are rattling around the bolt. i am getting new bushings today so maybe check all your shock bushings.

I have the same lift and same sized tires. I heard a similar sound a couple of weeks after I installed the lift, and found out that the rear shock mount bolts hadn't been tightened all the way. Check all those.

I would find a Pirate and run over him if it would help get rid of this noise!

Brought the Jeep to a local Garage and put it in on a lift. Couldn't find anything obvious and all the shock bolts and suspension parts are tight, so still no luck. In trying to diagnose it further it seems to happen more when turning to the right and decellerating? in performing the disgnosis I found that I have another minor noise coming from the right rear wheel when I turn left! This one is just a "jingling" noise? Not a bad one though. Got me to thinking that the rear brakes are dragging or possibly wheel bearings are shot/worn?

Have you checked to make sure your exhaust/muffler isn't touching anything or loose? I had a lot of rattle noise when I installed a rear skid plate on my exhaust and every time I would slow down it would rattle.

I think some people are having problems with their parking brake shoes delaminating and bouncing around in the disc hat. It might be worth pulling your discs off to check them.
