I found the Mud Grapplers to have low lateral traction in either mud , or snow(opposing triangle shaped tread not the best for this) . As long as you have forward momentum they are fine, stopping on a snow covered road that has a crown caused a sideways slide (but only when tires are stopped) almost always. Excellent on the rocks! Fair in the rain. I ran 35/12.5/17"s @ 26-28 psi on the street, 12 off road and got just shy of 50,000 miles out of 6 that were rotated around every 6,000 miles. In general as an off road tire I couldn't ask for better, I have driven from Maryland to the Carolinas and to New England, road manners are ok however hours of the noise made by them leaves you a little hard of hearing for a while when you get there (top down is worse, trust me!) I now have the Trail grapplers in the same size, road manners are comparable at the same pressures. They balance extremely well, handle rain very well. I havn't had them in any mud or snow yet, they did well on rocks, trees and shallow slop. I think they self clean better at low speeds also.
