I am currently running mud grapples and love them. I have also run the trail grapples and they were great also. In my opinion you the can't beat the look or performance of the mud grappleris off road, but be prepared for significant loss of power on the highway. The 37 inch mud grappler weighs in at around 100 lbs. My 35 in trail grapples were 65lbs. Even with 5.38 gears my jeep struggles with hills on the highway running the mud grapplers. As far as the ride goes I think they are fine, I run them at 32 psi and they feel just as smooth as my trail grapplers.

exactly why I posted. good info by all. A jkur fully armored is a portly pig, so the argument the tire being for heavy vehicles seem right up my ally. The noise isnt a concern as much as wear and traction. When I had trailer rigs I always ran interco iroks. those things could grip on glass. they just do not last on the street. having my trail rig as my DD is new to me, forces a new way of thinking.

If they are balanced correctly they wont shake. Also you have to run them at lower air pressure to help with the ride. The reason my friends weren't real smooth is because he beat the crap out of them and didn't stay on top of the balancing

Im running 40" grapplers on 20" spyderlocks. Grapplers are louder than most tires, heavy as hell, but they do good on rock/mud. I run 27 psi so ride is ok. Dont have alot of miles but everyone told me as long as you rotate them you get plenty of miles out of them.
Spyderlocks are good as well. I like how the bolts are protected as well as the valve stem is waaaay back in there so its protected real good as well.
It is a real heavy combination that makes alot of noise on the road, but I do like the combination alot.

weight is not an issue, i have the pentastar 2012 it has like a million horsepower and a billion torques , kidding. it is a little better than a 3.8 stock but still in the same boat really. but weight isnt a bad thing all the time, heavy unsprung weight should help offroad i would think.

here is the plan, I want to be able to drive to the rubicon, do the rubicon, drive back. the wheeling i do is very rocky typically. tires in the 37-40 inch range are not cheap at all. Looking to get the best product for the investment. would like a tire that is usable for 20k miles of DD and offroading. leaning towards a 40inch with a 20 inch wheel. seems to be a good road set up as well as a good rock setup. my wallet is crying but it is the price we pay to have fun. 5:13 gears or 5:38s. I know the d44s are going to have a short life, but I tend to be easy on axles. I hope to at least milk them along until I can get pro rock 60s

One time off-road with mud grapplers and you will not care what anyone says. Even wear here with regular rotations. They do hum on the highway, i love it though. No complaints at all from me...at all! If you aint mud grapplin, you aint mud grapplin!

Well I have 37" and have no vibration at all. They run smoth but are noisy as all hell. I do run them at 25psi though. I ran them at 8 psi on the trails with no beadlocks and no problems at all . Held the bead even when I was climbing up on the bumper. I have had them on for almost a year and look as good as new with 20,000 k on them. I will get them again. And they are way nousier then the MT'z I had before.

I run mine at 26 psi...and have only been down to 15psi on the trails. I will be buying again also! Hopefully in 40's though.
